WHERE WE ARE AND HOW TO GET THERE

Give me silence, water, hope. Give me the fight, the iron, the volcanoes. (Pablo Neruda).

Vulcano, with Vulcanello is the closest island to the Sicilian coast, one of the fascinating "Seven Sisters" that make up the Aeolian Islands. Homer described the picture of the kingdom of Aeolus: "We reached the island Aeolia. Where lived Aeolus, son of Hippotes, a favorite of the immortal gods. "The island is the ship; it has all around the unbreakable and smooth bronze wall, it stands on a high cliff. Indeed, the mountainous and volcanic rocks are evidence of an event when boiling lava created and lifted the island from the depths of the sea.
Between Vulcano and Lipari after a series of marine eruptions in 183 BC the island of Vulcanello was formed, it has recently been identified with the island of Hephaestus by classical authors, it is the youngest strip of land in Europe. Only in the 16th century, after incredible storms, it merged with the island Jerà and formed the isthmus 200 meters wide, which gave rise to a beautiful black sand beach in the western part of the bay, and the second - with white sand East.
On this isthmus at the foot of the cliff a series of fumaroles formed, as in the sea as on the beach, which continuously heats the thermal pool with weakly mineralized water and mud with a high sulfur content.

The island of Vulcano is the closest to the Sicilian coast and is easily accessible...
